Trainers, being the key drivers in the skill ecosystem, tirelessly train India’s youth to be future ready and ensure that capacity building is a continued endeavor. The Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) aims to acknowledge their contribution to the skill ecosystem. An initiative of MSDE, the Kaushalacharya Awards is an annual celebration that focuses on honoring the skill trainers and the impact created by them on India’s youth.
National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), on behalf of MSDE, invites nominations for the awards, which shall start accepting registrations from 15th May, 2021. The submissions will close on June 15th, 2021.
The objective of Kaushalacharya Awards 2021 is to honour excellence amongst Trainers and Master Trainers under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) category. The Awards felicitate Kaushal Gurus or Acharyas (trainers and master trainers) who have consistently achieved outstanding and meritorious performance, setting benchmarks for others to emulate. The Kaushalacharya Awards ceremony is scheduled to be organised on 5th September on the occasion of Teacher’s Day.
Award Categories - PMKVY Trainers & Master Trainers
PMKVY trainers and master trainers who strive to excel in their stream of work in achieving national and international standards and going beyond their call of duty in achieving the mandate of skilling, reskilling and upskilling the unemployed youth will be recognised. Trainers who are TOT certified and master trainers with master trainer certification are only eligible to apply for these awards. In addition, they must fulfil educational and experience requirement as per SSC guidelines.
To honor our skill gurus, there will be two award categories under Kaushalacharya Awards 2021 - PMKVY Category.
National Award for Excellence- Trainer
(Excellence in Training)
The following parameters shall be considered for the batches trained by the trainer:
Placement performance of candidates trained.
Certification performance of the candidates trained.
TP recommendation/testimonial/citation on Trainer’s professional achievement covering proficiency in thematic/job role knowledge, teaching ability, use of technology, communication skills, past awards etc.
Feedback from candidates (max 5)
Experience in the skill ecosystem as a trainer
National Award for Excellence - Master Trainers
(Excellence in Providing Training of Trainers)
The following parameters shall be considered in this category
Quantitative performance of the master trainer like number of trainers trained
SSC recommendation/testimonial on master trainer’s professional achievement covering proficiency in thematic/job role knowledge, teaching ability, use of technology, communication skills, past awards etc.
Feedback from ToT trained trainers (Max 5)
Experience in the skill ecosystem as a master trainer
The eligibility criteria for applying in these categories requires trainers to be Training of Trainers (ToT) certified and master trainers to hold a master trainer certificate. Nominations are invited as per following sector groups:
Electronics and Hardware
Furniture and Fittings
Aerospace and Aviation
Persons with Disability
Textiles and Handlooms
Handicrafts and Carpet
Gems and Jewellery
Iron and Steel
Beauty and Wellness
Tourism & Hospitality
Media and Entertainment
Category 1 : National Award for Trainer Excellence
Training Partners/SSDMs can nominate one trainer in each sector group.
Eligible trainers can apply (self-nominate) for this category in any one of the sector groups listed above.
The applications submitted would be first evaluated on basis of quantitative parameters like the number of trainees certified, placement parameter etc
The selected applications/nominations would then be evaluated by a Screening Committee basis qualitative parameters including the achievements, experience and contributions of the nominee in the skilling sector
Awards Selection Committee will then evaluate the applications shared and declare final winners for Category 1 for each of the 5 sector groups.
The winners will receive the awards in the Kaushalacharya awards function
Category 2 : National Award for Excellence in Master Trainers
Each SSC can nominate one master trainer associated with their respective job roles.
Eligible master trainers can apply (self-nominate) for this category in any one of the sector groups listed above.
The applications submitted would be first evaluated on basis of quantitative parameters like the number of trainees trained
The selected applications/nominations would then be evaluated by a Screening Committee basis qualitative parameters including the achievements, experience and contribution of the nominee in the skilling sector
An Awards Selection Committee constituted by MSDE will then evaluate and declare the final winners for Category 2 for each of the 5 sector groups.
The winners will receive the awards in the Kaushalacharya awards function.
Only 1 application (self-nomination) from each Trainer/Master trainer
Only 1 nomination for each sector group in each category by the Training Partner/Sector Skill Council/SSDM
In case of Additional parameters (Outstanding and Professional achievements), in case of self-nominated, recommendation letter from TP/SSC (basis category) mentioning all these achievements must be attached
