In order to improve employment or self-employment, the National Skill Development Corporation, has initiated skill-training in different trades for North East regions which has been widely appreciated by the people of the respective states. Students from the states have walked out to have employability which will add to the income of the family.

Sushmita, belongs to an economically weaker family from Tripura. She always wanted to have a career in the field of Bakery. NSDC’s Special Project for Bru Tribe under PMKVY (2016-20) has really been long-awaited by her as her family’s income was not adequate to go through any such professional training where she could get a chance to make her dreams true.

She was a bright student of class X but could not continue her studies due to the financial crisis that her family was going thru. But she wanted to have a career of her dream for sure. She took admission in the special project of PMKVY 2 and underwent the training of 3 months.  After the training, now she is certified as Craft Baker.

Sushmita is now proficient in:

• Producing baked goods by hand as well as by machinery.
• Sound knowledge of bread, cake, cookies and puffs.
• Able to bake different products in different equipment.
• Experience of handle bakery equipment such as a mixers   machines, deck oven, rotary oven, dough divider, Dough sheeter, bread moulder, bread-slicer and proofer.
