Kusumben stays in tribal district in remote area of Gujarat. She has studied up to 8th Standard. There are 5 members in her family. She has been engaged in agriculture activity from the past several years.
She achieved great success by applying knowledge received through agriculture training from the course: ‘Seasonal Training’ from Sukhi Mahila SEWA Mandal (training partner of Shri Mahila SEWA Shakari Bank Ltd.) under a project supported by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).
The training enabled her to acquire knowledge in the following areas and put the same into practice:
- The optimum use of farm land.
- The use of Vermicompost (organic fertilizer).
Through this training Kusumben learnt about different types of cropping pattern for making optimum use of land For the first time she grew tomatoes in her small piece of land. She made good profit during the season.
Innovative employment like growing tomatoes and earning profit from selling of tomatoes, there has been increase in her level of confidence and people in this tribal area have started implementing such ideas thus resulting in awareness in her area.
