Implementation of the scheme Seekho aur Kamao
Ministry of Minority Affairs (MoMA) has tasked the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) with implementing the Seekho aur Kamao (Learn & Earn) scheme in our union territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. We aim to provide skill development training to 10,000 candidates from minority communities in these regions. Through our selection process, NSDC has allocated training slots to the selected Training Providers, and our training sessions are likely to start by the end of February.
Overview
Seekho aur Kamao (Learn & Earn) is a scheme implemented by the Ministry of Minority Affairs since 2013-14, aimed at the skill development of minorities. The scheme focuses on upgrading the skills of minority youth in various modern and traditional skills based on their qualifications, current economic trends, and market potential. This training helps them secure suitable employment or equips them with the skills needed for self-employment.
Objective
The scheme aims to:
- Reduce the unemployment rate of minorities during the 12th Plan period.
- Preserve and modernize traditional skills of minorities and connect them to the market.
- Enhance the employability of existing workers and school dropouts, ensuring their job placement.
- Create better livelihood opportunities for marginalized minorities, integrating them into the mainstream.
- Enable minorities to take advantage of opportunities in the expanding market.
- Develop a skilled human resource pool for the country's benefit.
