Trainers and assessors—the leaders of skilling ecosystem
NSDC, through its Sector Skill Councils (SSCs), facilitates the recognition of trainers and assessors on benchmark standards in line with the Guidelines for Training of Trainers & Assessors. So far, 60,000 trainers and 40,000 assessors have been granted certifications through ToT and ToA programmes spanning 36 states/union territories and displayed on the List of Certified Trainers and Assessors.
State-of-the-art centers of excellence with strong industry linkages have been identified as Trainer-Assessor Academiesto encourage innovation and drive quality in the programs for trainers and assessors. Currently, 14 academies including L&T Skill Trainers’ Academy, TATA Strive, TATA Power, NIFTEM, National Academy of Construction, among others, have been recognised across 16 sectors such as retail, construction, management, rubber, tourism, and more. Trainer-Assessor Academies act as nodal centers for the teaching and learning needs of trainers and assessors.
To celebrate the importance and recognise the meritorious contribution of skill trainers and master trainers to skill training, an annual event called the Kaushalacharya Awardswere conceived three years ago. In the third edition held on 17September 2021, 10 trainers and master trainers were felicitated under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) category for their contribution to creating a future-ready skilled workforce.
The Covid-19 pandemic has made it essential for social ecosystems to adapt to virtual spaces. To ensure business continuity during Covid-19, NSDC issued a program framework for the delivery of online ToT and ToAs. Over 1,000 ToT-ToA programs have been delivered successfully through this mode. Additionally, it has become increasingly important to equip trainers to navigate online environments. Our partners are innovating solutions to cater to emerging needs including the upskilling of trainers on the use of digital tools and platforms, encourage blended learning, etcetera.
NSDC is also handholding and capacitating training providers and training centers delivering the ‘Customized Crash Course Programme for Covid-19 Frontline Workers in Healthcare’. This will enable compliance with the issued guidelines for training and certification of trainers. The database of all such certified trainers is housed on the Skill India Portal.
